![]() ![]() Right at the beginning of the song, we already have the beginnings of describing the experiences of youth. Both are just more specific to the experience of not being able to accept your appearance/self. ‘It cannot be me’ is also translated as ‘is not me’, and ‘dizzy’ is translated as ‘dizzy headaches’. The Korean name, ‘One day, a horn grew on my head’, isn’t that important to the storyline compared to the Korean names of some other tracks, but is still worth noting, as it describes the main conflict of the song and the storyline, as well as the events that led to the beginning of the storyline itself (Yeonjun growing horns).Ī very strong way to establish and begin the story, which remains relevant, unique, and fresh to TXT and kpop almost 3 years later. ![]() Of the many aspects of the song, the choreography is the most interesting, as it told the story of the song in a unique, creative, and interesting way.Īdditionally, the lyrics introduced and included many references to later songs and albums, especially the Dream Chapter albums. ![]() Most of the information in the lyrics was used in the ‘Nap of a Star’ MV, rather than the ‘CROWN’ one, which had the purpose of introducing the group to the world WITHOUT the darker aspects of their concept. There were a few interesting moments of members singing particular lines, and of differing translations, which I will discuss as they come up. It did a lot of heavy lifting in establishing the storyline, key motifs of the storyline, and the single most important aspect of TXT’s concept (which has been maintained throughout all of their comebacks, whether or not those comebacks had a dark, light, rock, or other concept) representing the voices, concerns, fears, and feelings of today’s youth (mostly Gen Z). It described the story of ‘Nap of a Star’, from Yeonjun’s perspective, which, of course, was later shown in an MV (of course, this means we should pay attention to the lines Yeonjun sings). Of course there are many other great debuts ENHYPEN, Kingdom, Xdinary Heroes, X1, and more from boygroups alone, but CROWN stands above the rest. It had everything great styling, a great concept, duality, a story, unique charms, professionalism, huge support from fans and non-fans alike, great praises from professionals, and was, most importantly, followed up perfectly by the following albums. I pride myself on objectivity, and this song is objectively THE BEST boygroup debut song, and one of, if not THE best debut song by any group or soloist in general. Released March 2019 with the ‘Dream Chapter: STAR’ album. ![]() ‘CROWN’ Lyric Analysis (One day, a horn grew on my head) ![]()
